The movie showing of "DESPICABLE ME" was GREAT! There were about 90+ adults and kids that came out to enjoy a fun family night out. The light cool breeze was an added plus to end the long hot muggy day. This year's movie was shown at the large pool behind the tennis courts. The large lawn area was used for seating and the chain link fence was used for hanging the movie screen. The location was also close to a small playground and a large turf area for kids to play. Community volunteers helped families sign in, handed out raffle tickets, and helped at the concession table, serving hot popcorn & cold water.
Several raffles took place during intermission. There was 1 special raffle drawing, which included all families that e-mailed their movie choice. The Le Vassar family won the special raffle, receiving the movie "Despicable Me". There were also 17 raffle tickets drawn during intermission for kids toys. Movie sponsors included Vintage Management and Brickman Landscape Company. Katie Kerr also donated glow sticks for kids, which proved to be very popular. This event could not have taken place if it were not for the efforts of projectionist Flynn, Christian, and also concession table volunteers Jenn, Yvonne, Gertrude, Barbara, Irene, and set-up and take down volunteers Chris and Frank. In addition, we had help from California Patrol officers during set-up and take-down and they monitored the event. We look forward to more movie nights next summer! Please send your comments on what you liked about the event and what areas could make the event better. Thanks for your support!
