est. 1982

CELEBRATING "40 yr." ANNIVERSARY CREEKSIDE EAST
& ONTARIO NATIONAL NIGHT OUT

AUGUST 2, 2022

Creekside was on FIRE for Ontario Night Out 2022 and luckily, we had some wonderful Firefighters that joined the party!  There were about 250+ residents (combined adults and children) in attendance.  While listening to the great sounds of DJ Ceasar, event volunteers greeted residents at the sign-in table and handed food tickets, raffle tickets and goodie bags to all kids.  Crime prevention, Neighborhood Watch Information and Emergency Preparedness pamphlets were made available to all in attendance.

Once residents signed-in they moseyed on over to the food line for some delicious tacos, quesadillas, rice & beans and chips & salsa from "Rosa's Taco" cart.

SPECIAL GUESTS included; OPD search and rescue heavy duty vehicle and officers, OPD motorcycle officers, and OPD patrol car & officers; Fire Truck loaded with Firemen; AMR ambulance service, Ontario Municipal Water District Trash Truck; A Vactor 2100 plus storm drain cleaning truck; public works fully loaded work truck; Community Engagement Team (Crime Prevention) Dept.; Police cadets and many more.  We were also pleased to have had our HOA Community Manager Debbie Graffam from Next Step in attendance along with Brandi her assistant.

RAFFLES & GAMES FOR CHILDREN & ADULTS: Thank You to Bright View Landscape Co. who donated $25 Walmart gift cards and to A-1 Pool Service for $10 Starbucks gift cards.  Children enjoyed many fun games including sack races, shark toss, corn roll game, fishing game and water balloon toss.  Many children also received prizes for winning games.

AN EXTRA SPECIAL THANK YOU TO ALL COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERS - who made this event possible. Brenda, Norma & Tony, Sharon & John, Mindy & Robert, Patty & Eddie, Evelynn, Tina & Kelly, Anna, Eve, Handyman James, Ceasar, Jazmyn, Ethan, and Frank & Irene.  The community was again privileged this year to have the sounds of resident DJ Ceasar and wonderful pictures taken by resident volunteer Evelynn.  Then there was a magical video created of the event, taken and edited by volunteer resident Robert, Thanks also to all those Creekside East residents that came together to enjoy a wonderful evening out with neighbors and friend and celebrate 40 years that Creekside East has been in Ontario.
SEE YOU NEXT YEAR!!!!

COMMUNITY MEETING
WITH ONTARIO POLICE DEPARTMENT

June 14, 2022

WOWIE!! The community meeting with the Ontario Police Department had all seats filled and then some.  There were 40 residents from Creekside East in attendance including a couple of residents from Creekside West and Edenglen communities.  Officers arrived early and stayed late to meeting and talk to residents.

A Special Thank You goes out to Lt. Scott Payne, Lt. Bill Russell, Officer Antonio Galban and Community Engagement Team staff Sabrina Robles and Nicolina Quinones for answering residents' questions and concerns about truck traffic, homeless in and around the community, speeding in and around the community and property theft.  Our community meeting was honored to also have in attendance two special guests Deputy Chief Paul Berdnick. and Cpt. Rudy Lopez.  A message that OPD stressed to residents was to report even if an incident has ended so that at least police know that our community is having problems, such as speeding.  Hence, more reports more OPD patrols!
OPD also reported that the traffic calming device that was installed on the loop is currently out for repair.  Also, a request for OPD bicycle patrols was requested by residents and it was agreed that OPD would send some bicycles patrols to South Ontario.

Residents in attendance were provided snacks and water. Ontario Police officers were presented with some boxes of "life saver" candies and thanked for the services they provide to keep our community safe.  Thanks to all community residents that showed up and voiced their concerns and stayed to talked to officers in attendance.
Let's Keep our community safe by reporting and keep the talk going about prevention and starting a Neighborhood Watch on your street!

A Special thank you to volunteers who help set up and work at the event including handymen James & Luciano, Norma & Tony, Mindy & Robert, Eric and Irene

The Annual Easter Egg Hunt had a great turnout.  This year children and parents were lining up early to get ready for the dash to find eggs as the Easter Bunny started the hunt at 10AM sharp.  Children were divided into three age group, with each having their own area to search for eggs in.  Over 400 easter eggs were hidden for children to find including three GOLDEN EGSS.  Three Easter baskets, one for each age group, were given to children who found the GOLDEN EGGS.

When the egg hunt ended, children, families, and friends signed up for the scavenger hunt. Community maps and clues were given to those that signed up.  There were 12 Easter items hidden out in Creekside East 12 tracts of homes/condos/townhomes for residents to locate.  The first three to find all Easter items by 12noon were presented with gift certificates.  The Easter Bunny also stayed around for a photo opt with children and their families.

Volunteers helped to plan, stuff 400 eggs, setup & work the event and stayed for clean-up.  Kudos to those hard-working volunteers; Sharon, Norma, Jazmyn, Anna, Eve, Brenda & Alexa, Belinda, Linda & Greg, Mindy & Robert, Tina & Kelly, Irene and of course the mystery EASTER BUNNY!

Creekside East had another successful community event due to the residents that showed up with boxes of paperwork to shred and food donations.  In addition, the event would not have happened if not for all the community volunteers that set-up, worked and stayed for clean-up at the event.  Residents arrived early and continued to show up until 3pm., to take advantage of the onsite paper shredding and food drive.  There were many familiar faces that returned to this year's shred event as well as some new members to the community.

The crew from ACCESS were on site from 9am-3pm, greeting residents, unloading bags/boxes of paperwork from resident's vehicles and loading paperwork into the shredder.  Creekside East residents were generous with their donations to the food drive.  This year the non-profit selected to pass on the food items donated was Chino Community Church.  Thanks goes out to Brenda a Creekside Community Volunteer, for finding a local church to donate to and transported all donations. The church was happy to receive the donations as they were having a FREE give away event the same weekend supplying free food, clothing and free haircuts to needy in the local Community.
A Special Thank you also goes out to all volunteers that helped with the event including Eve, Norma & Tony, Tina & Kelly, Greg, Eve, Evelynn, Brenda, Alexa and Irene.

On March 12th Creekside residents came out to browse the vast selection of books at the Grab-n-Go Free Book Fair.  There were many books to select from, for pre-school children to adults.  All book donations were from the residents of Creekside East. The community has a lot of avid readers that graciously shared their books with the community.  Children that attended the event received goodie bags with Dr. Seuss pencils, glasses, notebooks and stickers. There were also treats and drinks available to all who attended.  Thanks to all residents that stopped by the grab-n-go book fair and to those that donated books.  Celebrate reading everyday by stopping by and selecting a new book from the Little Free Library!

There was a large number of books donated prior to the event and at the event.  The excess books donated will be rotated into the Little Free Library (LFL) houses at Pool #1.   Also, to "PASS IT FORWARD" the Creekside East library stewards will be reaching out to other Little Free Libraries in the area to share some books with them.  There are many LFL's that are not as fortunate to receive large donations of books, so the Library Stewards all around the Country have developed a way to share excess books with fellow communities by "BOOK BOMBING", which is where library stewards find other LFL and add books to them. This is what Creekside LFL stewards will be doing.  If you know of any LFL in the area, please send a message with the location to Creeksidevillageeast@yahoo.com   Also if you are interested in being a Little Free Library steward for Creekside East or donating books, please email listed above.

Thank You to all our wonderful volunteers, who made the events happen!  Thanks to Linda & Greg, Mindy, Anna, Jazzmyn, Sharon and to the handymen & patrol officers.
